An aeroplane travels distances 2500 km, 1200 km and 500 km at the rate of 500 km/hr. 400 km/hr and 250 km/hr, respectively. The average speed (in km/h)is:
400 km/h
500 km/h
600 km/h
None of these
An aeroplane travels distance = 2500 km
Speed of the aeroplane if it travels distance 2500km = 500 km/hr.
2500 /500 = 5
Speed if traveled 1200 km = 400km/hr
1200 /400 = 3
Speed if traveled 500km = 250km/hr
Therefore,
500/250 = 2
Add the numbers 5+3+2 = 10
Add the distances = 2500+1200+500 = 4200
Speed = 4200 /10 = 420 km/hr
Hence, option 4 is the correct answer.
