One reason that democracy has survived in India is because of its strong press. ----- It may have had its failings and its black sheep but it has always risen to the task whenever the nation needed it.

(A) The media is not expected to further any ideology, individual or organisation.

(B) The media is required to report what's happening without taking sides.

(C) The media has been a source of strength and succour for all arms of the government be it the executive, judiciary or the legislative.
