Read the passage below and answer the following questions
In an indirect way, ownership status is very critical. Our independent voice is critical to our five values. And the five values that we stand for are, one, we are forward looking. Two, we are a trusted curator of events around the world. Three, we are not a disinterested observer, we actively advocate change. Four, we are global and, five, we are about world-class journalism. So, when we advocate, there is no outside influence on the editor. And the whole organization has been set up to sell based on those values. Commercial success breeds commercial independence and commercial independence is important for editorial independence, which in turn breeds commercial success. It is not about business versus editorial, but proprietorial influence has to be kept apart. If there is no commercial success, then ownership independence is at risk and so is editorial independence. Our rules don't allow one owner to own a majority stake.
With reference to the above passage, consider the following statements:
(1) Commercial success and commercial independence are interdependent.
(2) The organization spoken about takes their five values very seriously.
(3) They try to ensure that their editorial is not in any way influenced into making decisions against the values.
Which of the statements given above is/are correct?
1 and 2 only
2 and 3 only
1 and 3 only
1, 2 and 3
Statement (1) can be taken to be correct from the 7th sentence of the passage. Statement (2) has been reiterated twice in the passage – once in the 2nd sentence and then in the 6th sentence. Statement (3) can be taken to be correct from the last three sentences of the passage. Thus, all the statements are correct. Hence, the correct answer is option (d).
