President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Vishwashanti Buddha Vihar at Udgir in Maharashtra's Latur district on Wednesday. This Buddha Vihar is a replica of the Buddha Vihar located in Kalaburagi , Karnataka . Spread over 15 hectares, this Buddha Vihar has a meditation center that can accommodate 1,200 followers
- The President, who has been on a visit to Maharashtra since Monday (September 2), arrived in Nanded this morning, from where she was flown to Udgir in a helicopter for the event.
- She also installed a statue of Gautam Buddha inside the Vihar and paid floral tribute to the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar .
- Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan , Chief Minister Eknath Shinde , Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis were present on the occasion.
