India is now the second-largest producer of steel in the world, boasting a production capacity of 144 million metric tones, said Bhupathiraju Srinivasa, Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries.
He was addressing a three-day international conference on green steel production.
Srinivasa praised the significant technological innovations and improvements in material efficiency that have propelled global steel production to nearly 2 billion metric tonnes.
He emphasized the critical role of these advancements in meeting the rising demand for steel while maintaining environmental sustainability.
