Maharashtra proposed single-window registration of land titles
Maharashtra government has proposed to introduce the Maharashtra Land Titling Act which will be used for a single-window mechanism for authenticating land titles. This initiative will be first implemented in Mumbai as linking of various departments and digitizing records.
Key Highlights
i. Under the Maharashtra Land Titling Act, the state government will first set up the Maharashtra Land Titling The authority which will undertake the implementation.
ii. Under the same act, the state government will also set up one or more tribunals for land titling and one or more appellate tribunal and also appoint the title registration officer. The award provided by Appellate Tribunal can be challenged in a special bench of High Court.

iii. Government officials are currently tight-lipped due to the code of conduct ahead of general elections, but sources said that the land titling mechanism will first take off in Mumbai as linking of various departments and digitizing records has been already done as part of preparation.
