Zika Virus spread in Rajasthan - causes and prevention :

Cases of Zika virus found in the Rajasthan. About 29 people have been tested positive of the disease in Jaipur. Here are a few facts on the deadly disease and measures to control its spread.

• Recently the cases of Zika has increased in Jaipur. The UN minister has initiated an observation aiming to discover measure to control the situation.
• About 29 people have tested positive of the virus in the capital.
• Unlike the previous year, when the infection was detected in infected patients, this time it is detected in mosquitoes also, which increases the spreading of the infection.

History of Zika diseases in the country :

• In India, this virus was first detected in a 64 years old male in February 2016.
• The second was detected in a pregnant woman at Ahmadabad's BJ Medical college in November 2016. She had a low-grade fever after delivery.
• And the third case was also detected in a 22 years old pregnant woman in her 37th week of pregnancy.

Measures, taken by the government :

1. The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) control room has been activated to undertake regular monitored through the situation.

2. All the pregnant women are also monitored through the National Health Mission.

3. A team of seven people has been assigned in Jaipur to closely monitor the situation.

4. This situation is being monitored directly at the level of Union Minister of health and monitored regularly. said the health ministry.

5. National Centre for Disease Control and the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme and continuously taking measure to control the disease at the airports.

Cure of Zika :

2. A Spanish researcher in the San Antonio Catholic University Of Murcia may have found a compound that can be used as a cure to the disease.The compound is known as Novobiocin. It is been tested and found to be effective in fighting the effects of Zika virus infection.The novobiocin molecule was previously used in antibiotic drugs. It was withdrawn from the market because of lacking in effectiveness as an antibiotic.The same compound is very effective to counter the symptoms of the Zika disease. It has also shown 100 per cent recovery results in some cases.

Properties of Zika Virus :

• The WHO has declared Zika Virus as a public health emergency of International Concern.
• The virus is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.
• The patient will suffer a mild fever for four to seven days.
• There is no such vaccination has been found to cure the disease, only bed rest can help cure it.
• Zika is a disease similar to dengue and chikungunya.
• The virus can be transmitted through infected blood and sexual contacts.

  The Zika virus, passed by the Aedes mosquito, caused the 2015 epidemic in Brazil and later spread to South America and North America. Incidentally, the Aedes mosquito is also the vector for dengue and chikungunya. Most people who come in contact with the Zika virus do not show any symptoms, though in a few cases it can cause paralysis. The virus can also pass from mother to foetus during pregnancy, resulting in birth defects in the baby.

  Unlike in 2017, Indian scientists this time have detected the virus not just in the infected persons but also in mosquitoes in the area, increasing its risk of spreading.

  The World Health Organization (WHO) puts India in category 2 in the classification of Zika’s prevalence, which indicates an ongoing transmission of the virus.

  “Basic precautions for protection from mosquito bites should be taken by people traveling to high-risk areas, especially pregnant women,” the WHO advises. “These include use of repellents, wearing light coloured, long-sleeved shirts and pants, and ensuring rooms are fitted with screens to prevent mosquitoes from entering.”
