Rajasthan is very important in the mineral production. 79 varieties of minerals are available in the Rajasthan, out of which 58 minerals were produced in 2006-07. The state is exporting several minerals in raw form. The reserve position of important metallic and non-metallic minerals is available under metallic and non-metallic sections. Rajasthan is a storehouse of non-metallic & industrial minerals. Many of these areas have been leased out to entrepreneurs, but free potential areas are still available for leasing.

Clay Mining in Rajasthan :
Rajasthan possesses ball clay, fire clay and china clay deposits, the known reserves of these clays are of order of - 1. Ball clay- 38 million ton 2. Fire clay- 17.8 million tonnes 3. china clay- 208 million ton. 20 million tons of reservoir of fireclay can be obtained from lignite areas of Bikaner districts.
Districtwise important places of clay deposits :
1. Bikaner- Nal, Kolayat, Kotri, Barsinghsar, Mudh, Gura, Chanli 2. Pali- Literiya, Khardiya etc. 3. Jaisalmer- Devikot, Mandai etc. 4. Nagaur- Mungva, Khajwana, Rol, Indawar etc. 5. Barmer- Gunga, Kapurdi, Jalipa etc. 6. Bhilwara- Mangrup, Kotri, Jahajpur etc. 7. Chittorgarh- Eral, Sawa etc. 8. Jaipur- Torda, Buchara, Fatehpur etc. 9. Sawai Madhupr - Basu, Raesena etc. 10. Sikar - Mahawa, Purshottampura etc. 11. Ajmer - Maliya, Lughiya etc. 12. Jodhpur - Jewasiya, Ramasani-Rampura, Kheradiya etc.
Dolomite in Rajasthan :
The important dolomite deposits in Rajasthan are- 1. Ajmer -Bajla-Kabra having 13 million tonnes of all grade. 2. Bhilwara- Mandal, Koshithal having 20 & 28 million tons of all grade respectively. 3. Chittorgarh - Chittoria - Gorla - Chandakheri having 45 million tons with MgO 18 to 21%, and SiO2 0.6 - 4%. 4. Jaipur- Kotputli, Manwa-Ramgarh, Bhajalana having 31 Million tons all grade. 5. Jaisalmer- Chicha, Chalota 3.15 million ton all grade. 6. Jodhpur- Indo-Ki-Dhani, Indolai Ka Talab, Rathoro Ka Dhora having 5 million ton SMS grade. 7. Sikar- Daulatpura, Balpura having 1.95 million tonnes of all grade. 8. Udaipur- Iswal, Haldighati having 2.55 million tonnes of all grade.
Rajasthan has a prominent place in the country in terms of availability of minerals. Rajasthan is playing a leading role in mineral exploitation by contributing significantly to the mining sector every year.
