Pune hosted the First State Level Awareness Programme on Agriculture Export Policy
First State Level Awareness Programme on Agriculture Export Policy to create awareness among farmers and stakeholders was held in Pune, Maharashtra.
i. The Export Policy was created by the State Governments and the Policy will be implemented in the respective State Agriculture and horticulture departments.
Key Information Discussed in the Programme:
i. India Produces 600 Million tones of Agriculture, Horticulture Products and in which 30 percent of the Horticulture products are wasted.

ii. Saudi Arabia has a vast interest in providing cold chain and warehousing facilities for importing agro and
processed food Products to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar.

Important Facts to be known:
♦ Union cabinet approved the Agriculture Export Policy 2018 with an Objective of Doubling Farmers income by
2022.
