Mosques in Rajasthan :
Though Rajasthan has never been entirely a Muslim ruled region but from time to time Muslim rulers had ruled it and thus left their impact on the Rajasthani architecture. Both the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal dynasty contributed in the construction of mosques and other Muslim religious sites. There are few but interesting mosques in Rajasthan and these exquisite pieces of architecture are a must see. Dargah Sharif : The dargah of Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti is probably the most important religious sites of the Muslims here. Built by the Mughals the dargah symbolizes tolerance towards all kinds of religions. Moin-ud-din Chisti was a Sufi saint whose compassion for the poor and the weak made them follow him. He was popularly known as Garib Nawaz. Adhai din-ka-Jhonpra : This great mosque was actually a Jain religious college which was damaged by Mohammad Gori. It is popularly believed that the ruined college and parts of some 30 damaged temples were used to build this mosque. The construction was which was completed in two and a half days. Therefore it is known by the name Adhai-din-ka-Jhonpra. Later Qutb-ud-din Aibak added a pierced stone screen of seven arches and the ten domes in the roof upheld by 124 columns. Though in ruin now, two broken minarets with Koran inscriptions on the corners above the central high arch of the screen can be seen. Jama Masjid : Built in pristine white marble it is one of the many monuments that was constructed by Shah Jahan. It is situated within the campus of the dargah in Ajmer. It is considered one of the most beautiful mosques in Rajasthan. This monument enhances the beauty and importance of dargah of Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti.
Dargah of Adharshila : Dargah of Adharshila is an ancient building built during the Muslim period in Rajasthan. It has few mosques and graveyard located in the vicinity of the Dargah. Dargah of Adharshila is located in the southern direction of the city of Kotain Rajasthan. It is an ancient mosque built during the Muslim rule in India. The Chambal River located on the right side enhances the beauty of the building. The Dargah has been named as the Dargah of Adharshila as the grave of saint has been buried under a massive and single piece of a rock. A minar measuring 20 feet high and cylindrical in shape is built near to the shrine. The minar has small pockets used for holding the lamps. The Dargah of Adharshila built in the medieval period stands an exquisite example of architectural grandeur of the Muslim period. The grand complex exemplifies the craftsmanship of the artisans of the ancient period.
Dargah Masjid : The Dargah Masjid is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan. More specifically, this masjid is situated in Asind. Globally, it can be pinpointed at coordinates 25 degrees 43 minutes 51 seconds north and 704 degrees 19 minutes 46 seconds east. Dargah Masjid is known to be built during the period of muslim rule in India. The mosque does not have inscriptionsengraved in it but the architectural design and its pattern indicate that it has been probably constructed in the 13th century. It is thought to have been built after the Shahi Masjid and before the Daman Kuh Mihrab. The Dargah Masjid is a fine representation of the architectural style of the Sultanate period.
Talaqni Masjid : Talaqni Masjid located in Rajasthan was built by Babur after his triumph over Khanwa in 1527 A.D. The mosque has been constructed over an artificially raised platform. The monument is situated to the northern side of Bayana.
Shaikh ki Didwana Masjid : Shaikh ki Didwana Masjid has been built during the reign of Firoz Shah Tughluq. The shrine represents the architectural style of the Muslim period. Shaikh ki Didwana Masjid is one of the oldest Islamic monuments of Didwana built during the Muslim period. The mosque is situated in Silawatiyon ka Mahalla and had been built during the reign of Firuz Shah Tughluq in 779/1377.
Khalji Masjid : The mosque was constructed during the reign of Firoz Shah Tughluq. Khalji Masjid also known as the Hazirawali Masjid is an ancient mosque built during the Muslim rule in India in Rajasthan. The mosque was in complete dilapidated state until recently when it was repaired and restored. Khalji Masjid has an inscription engraved on it according to which the mosque was built during the reign of Firoz Shah Tughlaq on 10th Sha'ban 780/2nd December, 1378.
Mosque of Bai Tilokdi Kalawant : Mosque of Bai Tilokdi Kalawant was built by Bai Tilokdi (Trilok Devi) Kalawant. It had been constructed during the Mughal rule. The mosque was built by Bai Tilokdi (Trilok Devi) Kalawant, the daughter of famous musician Mian Tansen in the year 1652 A. D. The shrine built during the Mughal period is situated in the Dargah Bazar.
The inscription engraved in the mosque bears the name of the daughter of Mian Tansen. It also states that Abul Fazl had given the name of Tansen's son as Tantaray Khan. The original name of the son was Bilas. The inscription has been written in Persian language and has been engraved in relief on a marble slab that measures 12 x 14". It is visible over the central mihrab of the mosque and is at a height of 13 feet from the floor. The script of the inscription is nastaliq. According to the inscription Tilokdi was also a musician like her father.
Idgah of Ajmer : Idgah of Ajmer was built during the Muslim rule in India. It was constructed by Nawab Mirza Chaman Beg, the governor of Malwa. The Idgah of Ajmer located in Rajasthan was built during the Muslim period. The huge Idgah was built in honour of the saint Khwaja Muinuddin Chisti. It was constructed by Nawab Mirza Chaman Beg, the governor of Malwa. He was aided in his work by Shamsuddin, under the Sindhia Rajas.
