‘Dev Khel’ introduced for the first time in Mandi Shivratri Fair :
To let people and tourists know about the state’s rich deity culture, the administration and the Kardar Sangh introduced Dev Khel, a unique show, for the first time at the Mandi Shivratri fair.
A large number of deities and their orators, known as (Gur), were seen taking part in the event. It is stated that the age-old practice of Dev Khel was performed by deities of Chhohar valley after a long time. Earlier, it was performed by deities during the rulers of Mandi state. Dev Khel is a religious activity in which deities display their power through their orators (Gur).
During Dev Khel, the Gur of each deity takes symbols such as axe, trishul, chimta (tongs) in their hands to exhibit the power of the deity. They worship the deity, as a Gur does in temples, before making any prophecy. However, no prophecy was made by the Gur during Sunday’s Dev Khel. Nine deities of Chhohar valley took part in Dev Khel and Hurang Narayan deity presided over it. After its conclusion, the deities and Gur visited the temple of Madho Rai to pay obeisance to him.

The weeklong Shivratri fair will end on Monday with the Shobha Yatra of chief deity Madho Rai. All deities will go back to their native place after taking part in the Shobha Yatra. However, temporary business stalls set up for Shivratri fair will remain open for the next few days for business purpose at the Paddal ground.
