Government Schemes for Children/ Girl Child in Rajasthan :
Mukhyamantri Palanhar Yojana :
The Social Justice and Empowerment Department of the Rajasthan Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Palanhar Yojana for the uncared, unsheltered, uneducated orphans to maximise their future well-being. For such orphans and vulnerable children, the Rajasthan Government offers financial assistance to their nearest relatives or any institutions for their upbringing, education, health and other essential needs. As per the scheme, it is mandatory that such children are sent to the Anganwadi centres at the age of 2 to 6 years and must be sent to schools at the age of 6.
The monetary aid provided under this scheme is Rs.500 every month till the age of 5. On getting admitted to a school, the grant offered is raised to Rs.1000 every month until the child attains the age of 18. In addition to this, an annual subsidy of Rs. 2000 / – per year (excluding the category of widow and marriage) is provided by the Government for the cost of clothing, shoes, sweaters and other needed works.
Annapurna Milk Scheme :
Under the scheme, more than 62 lakh students at 66,506 government schools will be provided warm milk as part of the mid-day meal. Students till Class 5 will get 150 ml of warm milk thrice a week while those in class 6 to 8 will get 200 ml.
This scheme is the foundation of our happy and healthy future. The nutritional level of children studying in government schools will improve and the enrolment will increase. Every child studying in government schools and madrasas will get fresh, pure and nutritious warm milk three days a week.
The milk supply in schools should be given to woman milk producing cooperatives. The scheme is being implemented with a budget of ?218 crore.
Nearly 5 lakh litres of milk will be served in schools.
Eradication of Child Labour Scheme :
The Government is implementing the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) Scheme and Grant-in-Aid (GIA) Schemes for rehabilitation of child labour. The Schemes are being implemented in districts which have high concentration of children working in the hazardous occupations. The objective of Schemes is to rehabilitate children withdrawn from hazardous occupations and processes in the age group of 9-14 years with the target of mainstreaming them to the formal education system.
Girl child welfare related schemes :
Dhanalakshmi Scheme :
This is a conditional cash transfer scheme for the girl child with insurance cover which would go a long way towards ensuring the survival of the girl child and assuring a better life for her. The direct and tangible objective of the scheme is to provide a set of financial incentives for families to encourage them to retain a girl child, educate her and prevent child marriage.
Ashray Scheme :
In a state that is infamous for female infanticide, the Health Department has figured out a way to curb the number of female babies being abandoned in forests, on the roads, etc.
Through a new scheme called Ashray, the government will place cradles in hospitals attached to government medical colleges, district hospitals and satellite hospitals of the state. The Department aims to place the cradle in 65 hospitals across the state. The cradle, which is specially designed, has an automatic alarm that will go off after two minutes of placing the baby in it.
Mukhya Mantri Saksham Balika Yojana :
Launching the government scheme on international women’s day of 8th March 2016 proves to be landmark in the lives of the women to become confident, educated and self reliant. An annual budget of ninety nine and six ninety three crore rupees was approved out for this government scheme by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Economic help and scholarships are provided to the young girls from the not so well off families so that they can complete their education. This scheme strives to train around 1.5 school girls in self defense strategies from a very young age. The crimes being committed against women are increasing every time so it is very important to make them well equipped enough to protect themselves.
