According to the final data of census 2011, the sex ratio in Uttar Pradesh is 912, which is 31 less than the national average (943). While in 2001 this number was 898. In 2011, the sex ratio of the state increased by 14 points compared to 2001. Uttar Pradesh has 26th position among all the states and Union Territories in terms of sex ratio. As per Census 2011, sex ratio in the age group 0-6 is 902, whereas in 2001 the number was 916. During 2001-2011, there was an increase by 14 points in adult sex ratio whereas 14 points decrease by the sex ratio of 0-6 age group (infant). After independence, the highest increase in sex ratio in Uttar Pradesh was in the 1991-2001 census.
