The project was announced by Haryana's Chief Secretary, D S Dhesi while governing a meeting of the Deputy Commissioners of the state. Dhesi mentioned that the smart house ID would be generated through a tablet by visiting every house. He briefed them on their responsibilities and the process to gather the data and instructed them to complete the task on time.

It is for the first time that such a big campaign is being initiated in the state. The work is expected to start from June 15, 2017 and end by August 15, 2017.
