The Haryana government launched a new scheme, ‘Adapting homes for the differently-abled’. Under the scheme such persons with disabilities would be provided six months’ pension in advance for adapting their homes as per their requirement.The amount given in advance would be recovered over a period of 42 months under the scheme.Apart from this, Union Government selected Haryana as a pilot State for universal ID for persons with disability (Divyangs), for which work has already been started.Further, Gurgaon and Faridabad districts were selected for the ‘Accessible India’ campaign for persons with disabilities.Besides, a home for abandoned and mentally-challenged persons was established at a village Bandhwari in collaboration with the non-governmental organisation Earth Saviours.The grant for diet money to hearing impaired was also increased from 400 rupees to 1000 rupees per month. Similarly, the grant for the visually-impaired children has also been increased from 600 rupees to 1600 rupees per month.
