The Punjab Government has constituted the Punjab State Urban Advisory Board for user charges to periodically review the rates of property tax, levy and other fees as required under AMRUT Scheme.Additional Chief Secretary/ Principal Secretary/ Secretary Local Government, Punjab (Administrative Secretary) will be Chairman of the Advisory Board.
Mayor, Municipal Corporation Jalandhar, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Patiala, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar would be members of the Board.Besides, one person each having the knowledge and experience in the fields of law/Municipal Administration, Valuation of Property and Accountancy and Engineering & Urban Planning will be nominated as member in the board by the State Government.Director Local Government Punjab will be the Member Secretary of the Punjab State Urban Advisory Board.The Department of Planning will be renamed as “Department of Economic Policy and Planning” and similarly the Punjab State Planning Board will be renamed as “Economic Policy and Planning Board”.The erstwhile SAD-BJP government had two posts of vice chairperson in the State Planning Board, of which one was earlier held by eminent industrialist Rajinder Gupta and another by former Punjab BJP chief Rajinder Bhandari.Consequent upon Bhandari's resignation, one of the two posts of vice chairperson, Punjab Planning Board, had fallen vacant, which has now been filled with the appointment of Bhattal.
