Demography of Rajasthan :
Rajasthan is India’s biggest state in terms of region. It is located on the north-western part of the country, where it contains a vast part of the wide and intense Thar Desert and borders with the Pakistani region of Punjab and Sindh toward the west. Rajasthan has a mainly population of approximately 68,621,012 .Rajasthan's population is made up mainly of Hindus, who account for 92% of the population. Rajasthani Muslims make up 4%, Sikhs1.5% and Jains1.5% of the population. The state of Rajasthan is also populated by Sindhis, who came to Rajasthan from Sindh province(now in Pakistan) during the India-Pakistan separation in 1947.Hindi is the main spoken language of the state, although Punjabi & Rajasthani are also spoken by a minority of the population. A number of “tribal" languages are also spoken in Rajasthan. Some other languages used in Rajasthan are Hindi and English. The Indian state of Rajasthan is divided into 33 districts for administrative purposes.
There are 33 districts in the state, among them Jaipur is the most populous district with population of about 66.3 lakh and Jaisalmer is the least populous district with population of about 6.7 lakh. Jaisalmer is the biggest district in the state with an area of about 38 thousand km2 and Dhaulpur is the smallest with 3033 km2. Demography of Rajasthan shows according to the 2011 census, which stands out at about 68 million, making it the 8th most populated state in India.

Rajasthan makes up about 5.6% of the country's population a figure which was about 5.4% during the last census in 2001. The state is spread over an area of about 340000 sq. km. making it the largest state in the country in terms of area.
Population Density of Rajasthan :
The density of population per sq. Km. is about 200 and a lot below the national average. The state has a growth rate of about 21 percent which is the 11th highest growth rate in the country. The population of the state is rising considerably due to rapid efforts towards development and progress. The literacy rate in the state is about 67% which is a cause for concern and a statistic the authorities must take notice of and look to correct in the years to come.
Sex Ratio of Rajasthan :
The sex ratio in Rajasthan also leaves a lot to be desired as it lags behind the national average by 10 points. Child sex ratio of Rajasthan is 888 females per 1000 males. Maximum value of Child Sex Ratio in Rajasthan is 907 in Nagaur District which is more as compareto India Urban. and Min. Value is 841 in Dhaulpur. Maximum value of Child Percentage in Rajasthan is 15.31% in Karauli and Dhaulpur District, which ismore as compare to the Urban India and min. value is 11.02% in Udaipur.
Population Statistics in Rajasthan :
Rajasthan has population of 6.86 Crores, an increase from figure of 5.65 Crore in 2001 census. The total population of Rajasthan is as per 2011 census at about 68,548,437 of which male and female are 35,550,997 and 32,997,440 respectively. In the year 2001, the total population was 56,507,188 in which males were 29,420,011 while females were 27,087,177. The total population growth in this decade was 21.31 percent while in previous decade it was 28.33 percent. The population of Rajasthan forms 5.66 percent of India in 2011. In 2001, the figure was 5.49 percent.
Literacy Rate of Rajasthan :
The literacy rate in Rajasthan has seen upward trend and is 66.11 percent as per 2011 population census. Of that, male literacy stands at 79.19 percent while female literacy is at 47.76 percent. In 2001, literacy rate in Rajasthan stood at 60.41 percent of which male and female were 70.32 percent and 43.85 percent literate respectively.
The total area of Rajasthan is 342,239 sq. km. The population density of Rajasthan is 200 per sq km which is lower than national average of 382 per sq km. In 2001, the population density of Rajasthan was 165 per sq km, while national average in 2001 was 324 per sq km.
Religion wise distribution of population :
Hindus contribute 88% of the total population and are the largest religious community in the state followed by Muslims which contribute 9% of the total population and Sikhs are the third largest religious community here with 1% population all other religious communities contribute 2% of the total population. Female Sex ratio per 1000 male in Hindus are 926 in Muslims are 946 and in Sikhs are 900.
Workers profile :
Rajasthan has 44% (about 3 crore) population engaged in either main or marginal works. 51% male and 35% female population are working population. 43% of total male population are main (full time) workers and 9% are marginal (part time) workers. For women 18% of total female population are main and 18% are marginal workers.
Population of the state has increased by 21.3% in last 10 years. In 2001 census total population here were about 6 crore. Female population growth rate of the state is 21.8% which is 1% higher than male population growth rate of 20.8%. General caste population has increased by 18.6%; Schedule caste population has increased by 26.1%; Schedule Tribe population has increased by 30.2% and child population has decreased by -0% in the state since last census.
