Lucknow citizens can look forward to better traffic management on road from next year. Lucknow Municipal Corporation officials announced on Thursday that the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS), being developed as part of Smart City project, will become functional from April next year. Under ITMS, 110 traffic lights with automatic signal control system and separate signal system for pedestrians will be installed for traffic management. CCTVs will be also installed to catch traffic offenders and arrangements will be made to send echallans.City will get 150 new smart bus shelters for which we will start the tendering process in December. Roads measuring 50km in different parts of the city will be made ‘smart’, meaning these roads will be encroachment free and have footpaths with benches and green belts. The construction of a ‘smart’ road has already started in Daliganj.
