Shanta Kumar Committee has recently submitted its report on restructuring of Food Corporation of India (FCI) to the PMO.
The report suggests a complete overhaul of the leakages in Public Distribution System (PDS) in India. But there are certain recommendations made by the committee which have come under criticism. Right to Food activists say that one of the recommendation which advocates lowering the limit of population under food coverage from 67 to 40 percent is not justified as it goes against the spirit of food security.
