This is a joint project of Rajasthan and Gujarat. It was named after the famous freedom fighter Jamnalal Bajaj . In the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, after reaching the northern slope of the Vindhianchal range, the mahi river enters Rajasthan in near 169 km Madhya Pradesh near Banswara. After this, the river falls in the Gulf of Khambat, flowing in Gujarat state after 171 kilometer sister in Rajasthan. The drainage area of ??this river is semi-arid and rocky. It is a very difficult task to dig the wells for irrigation. Keeping this in mind, this project was developed here. This project is a joint project of Rajasthan and Gujarat, for which there was an agreement between the two states in 1966. The project was approved by the Central Water Commission in 1971 and its constructionStarted in 1972, which was dedicated to the nation by the then Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi on November 1, 1983.
