Jhajjar district of Haryana will have one of the six Central Research Institutes of Naturopathy and Yoga, approved by Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy, to be set up in the country.The institute would be set up at village Devarkhana in district Jhajjar, Bahadurgarh at a cost of Rs 57.04 crore and it would have a 200-bed hospital. Also, a 50-bed chest specialist hospital would be set up in the area of Matanhail in district Jhajjar. The Government of India after having recognized the need of systematic research for development of Indian Systems of Medicine including Homoeopathy in the Country, established the Central Council for Research in Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy in 1969 as an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health & family welfare, Govt. of India which continued to conduct scientific research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy upto 1978.During all this period Naturopathy was looked after by the Ministry of Health & family Welfare directly. Thereafter, in March 1978, this composite Council was dissolved to pave way for the formation of independent Research Councils i.e. one each for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.The Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy was established as Registered Society on 30th March, 1978 with the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare as President of Governing Body.
