A 60-year-old male patient and resident of Asandh township in Karnal district has become the first patient in the country to have undergone heart bypass surgery under the Ayushman Bharat scheme at the PGIMS, Rohtak. The head of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the PGIMS, Prof (Dr) SS Lohchab, who conducted the surgery along with his team, said the patient had suffered a heart attack and his all coronary arteries were blocked. He also had blockage in his leg arteries and diabetes mellitus. “Apart from the cardiac surgery, the patient also underwent bypass surgery of leg arteries simultaneously,”
