Haryana Government has taken up the work of development of Kotla lake in district Mewat in two phases for the utilization of the surplus flood water of river Yamuna for irrigation, drinking and recharging of the depleting groundwater.The work of first phase has been taken up at a cost of Rs 17 crore.The second phase, 108 acres of land has been acquired at a cost of Rs 51 crore and excavation work is in progress.After completion, the project will provide irrigation to about 27,000 acre area besides recharging ground water.The construction of Naiwala Kharif channel off-taking at R.D. 22,000 of Ghaggar-Bani-Sadeva link channel costing about Rs 57 crore has been taken up in district Sirsa to utilize the available Ghaggar water during rainy season for irrigation and recharging of ground water.
