The Election Commission of India (ECI) launched the ERO-Net, as a pilot project for Punjab along with Haryana, to simplify the process of registration and deletion of votes, filing of objections and claims by making it online.The ERO NET (Election Registration Officer Net) would make the election related process and procedure more transparent and prompt.

From July onwards, people would be able to apply for registration as voters, deletion of votes and filing of claims and objections through ERO NET. It would also be used for the proposed special drive to register young voters between 18 to 21 years of age from July 1 to 31.“ECI has launched a special drive from July 1 for maximisation of registration of eligible electors and removing the impurities in the rolls,”.

He said that in tune with the theme of ‘No Voters to be left Behind’, the ECI has decided to utilise the period of continuous updation for maximisation of enrolment of young electors particularly 18-19 age group by launching a special drive.Chief Electoral Officer told that Haryana, which launches ERO Net Software, will be the first state in the country. The launch of this software will be done on December 15. Through the software, all the electoral registration officers will be able to see the full details of all the voters in their Legislative Assembly constituency.
