Om Prakash Chautala (born 1 January 1935) is a former Chief Minister of Haryana from Indian National Lok Dal.Chautala is the son of Chaudhari Devi Lal,a former Deputy Prime Minister of India.He has two sons, Ajay and Abhay, and three daughters: Suchitra, Sunita and Anjali. His son Abhay is MLA from Ellenabad and his grandson Dushyant Chautala is MP, Lok Sabha from Hisar. He was the Chief Minister of Haryana from 2 December 1989 to 2 May 1990, from 12 July 1990 to 17 July 1990, again from 22 March 1991 to 6 April 1991 and finally from 24 July 1999 to 4 March 2004. Politically, he had been part of NDA and Third Front(non-NDA & non-Cong front) at national level. At present the Indian National Lok Dal is the main opposition party and his son Abhay Singh Chautala is the leader of opposition. He is in jail in conviction of teacher scam.Indian National Lok Dal secured absolute majority in 2000 Haryana assembly election. Om Prakash Chautala was elected leader of the party in the assembly and was sworn in as Chief Minister of Haryana on 3 March 2000 for fifth time.
