Xionites, Chionites, or Chionitae, or Hunni, Yun or Xun, were probably an Iranian-speaking people who were prominent in Transoxania and Bactria. The Xionites are first mentioned with Kushans by Ammianus Marcellinus who spent the winter of 356-57 CE in their Balkh territory and they arrived with the wave of immigration from Central Asia into Iran in late antiquity. Based on Chinese and Persian histories believes that the Hunas conquered Gandhara from the Ki-to-lo in c.475 AD and it is known that the Huns invaded Gandhara and the Punjab from the Kabul valley after vanquishing the Kidarite principalities. Mihirakula was a son of Toramana, both of Huna heritage, and ruled the Indian part of the Hephthalite Empire. Mihirakula ruled his empire from 502 to 530,from his capital of Sagala (modern-day Sialkot, Pakistan). In about 530, Yashodharman of Mandosar, defeated Mihirakula in battle at Kehror Pucca (Lodhran district) and the Huna power ceased to be potent force in India.
