Meteors are the pieces of matter which have entered the Earth's atmosphere from outer space by the gravitational force of the Earth, when they pass close to the Earth. Once these objects enter into the thick atmosphere of the Earth due to the friction they bum before reaching the Earth. These objects are called meteoroids when they hurtle through space. Chunks of rock and metal from asteroids and other planetary bodies that survive their journey and fall to the earth's surface are called meteorites
