Cropping Intensity is a measure of the extent of multiple cropping.In Punjab state there has been progressive increase in intensity of cropping over the years and now intensive cropping i.e getting two crops from the same field is a common feature but the Crop diversity has been decreased over the years as mainly crops grown are Rice and wheat and the rotation pattern is followed only of Wheat and Rice which further lead to decline of soil productivity and leadts to shortage of groundwater.The vegetables are grown mostly in Jalandhar and Kapurthala area.Maize based cropping system is followed in the North Eastern parts in Early March.
