Uttar Pradesh Government launched the Women Empowerment Resolution Campaign to develop abilities in women for leadership and rights on November 20, 2018. The campaign was launched by the incumbent Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath.

 More than 65 per cent of women in India don't know that eve teasing is legally a crime!
Sections 294 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) prohibit any individual or group of people pass any kind of offensive comment or execute any such gesture towards a girl of any age.

Need for the campaign
To combat the alarming situation of women safety in India, the state government in the past has launched several campaigns and laws.
In addition to those, tasks, like installing CCTV cameras in most part of the city, buses, establishing fast track courts, establishing Nirbhaya fund, were also made.
But due to lack of public awareness, these tend to fail. Looking at the objective of the campaign, it looks promising.

Purpose of the campaign:

• The purpose of this campaign is to ensure the empowerment of women through different programs in the state.
• Under it, the women employees of the state will receive proper education about schemes, laws, help groups, self-help training.
• Under this scheme, women in the government will go to rural houses to talk and make the rural women aware. Issues like education, self-employment, health, sanitation and nutrition will be included under this campaign.
• For the operation of the programs, an 11-member team will be formed at each district and block level of states.

Highlights

• The Women Empowerment Resolution Campaign will help to ensure the women empowerment in the state
• During this campaign, the women working in the government institutions will visit households for women's feedback on the schemes introduced by the Center and the state government
• Issues like education, self-employment, health, sanitation, and nutrition will also be addressed during this campaign
• An eleven-member team will be constituted at each block and district levels which will include six women employees and five self-help group members.
