Tubewells : The major sources of irrigation in Punjab is Tubewells( 72.5%).They are constructed to utilize ground water.
Canals : Canals are the second most used source of irrigation (27.5%). Canals are needed to be supported by the governments. There is need of huge planing for the construction of Canals.
Tanks : Another way of irrigation in Punjab is by construction of tanks (0.7 %). This way of irrigation has made the irrigation last longer even during the scarisity of water.
Drip Irrigation : Till now only less than 0.3% of total area has been covered under these systems in Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur districts.
