Saras Fair 2018 begins in Dibrugarh

Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) and District Administration Dibrugarh is organising Saras Fair 2018 from November 9 to 18 at Chowkidinghee Field in Dibrugarh.
The “Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans Society” in short ‘SARAS’ is a distinctive initiative which aims at providing a platform to the rural artisans, to showcase their skills & products, raise awareness amongst urban customers on rural livelihood initiatives and also develop a market link.
Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) organises SARAS Fair twice in a year one at district level and the other at State level. This is the third time ASRLM is organising SARAS Fair and the fourth SARAS Fair will be organised in the next month in Guwahati.
The fair will exhibit and sale products made by Self Help Groups of 15 states of across India. In Dibrugrah SARAS, a total of 105 stalls will be available out of which 47 stalls are from outside states and 58 are of SHGs promoted under ASRLM.
The ten days of SARAS Fair will not only limit itself to display and sales of Handloom and Handicraft items but will also have interactive sessions and workshops related to Entrepreneurship Development, Skilling of Youth, Leadership Building, Health & Nutrition of Women and Children and Scientific Methods of Livestock Management. Cultural Programmes by eminent artist can also be relished.
