After the controversial Yandaboo Pact (1826) during the Ahom reign, Piyali Barua and Maniram Dewan started a revolution against the British rulers for an independent Assam. But they were successful and were captured by the British Army. They were hanged by the colonial rulers on February 26, 1858.
