For the first time in Bihar, elections for 6 posts in panchayats will be conducted by EVM only. EVM was invented in 1980 by MB Hanifa. The creation of EVMs in India was initiated by the Election Commission of India in 1989 in collaboration with "Electronics Corporation of India Limited". EVMs were first used in 1982 in Kerala's 70-Parur assembly constituency. Whereas since 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the process of voting in each Lok Sabha and state assembly elections in India is completely done by electronic voting machine.
