The historic seven-day International Renukaji Fair was held at Renukaji in Sirmaur district amid Covid restrictions. The Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, performed the traditional puja.

• He also led the procession of Lord Parshuram by carrying the palanquin, as per the age-old tradition.
• The palanquin of Lord Parshuram and other deities is brought to Renukaji from the ancient temple at Jamu Koti village, and it departs after religious ceremonies, including a dip in the Renuka Lake.
• The fair marks the union of Lord Parshuram with his mother, Goddess Renukaji, on the eve of Dashami.
• Owing to the Covid pandemic, the district administration has restricted the fair to mere traditional ceremonies.
• No fair is being held as congregation of people can trigger the spread of the infection. Local MLA Vinay Kumar was also present on the occasion.
• Deputy Commissioner, Sirmaur, RK Pruthi today performed the closing ceremony of the seven-day international Renuka fair at Renukaji.
• He offered prayers at the temple of Goddess Renukaji and Lord Parshuram and participated in the departure ceremony of the palanquin of Lord Parshuram and other deities to their destinations.

Pruthi said 2,500 devotees paid obeisance at the temple this year. All safety protocols amid the Covid outbreak were followed. He performed the traditional “puja” on the banks of Renuka Lake and announced the departure of the palanquin in the presence of ‘kardars’ and local MLA Vinay Kumar.
