India successfully fired two Nuclear Capable Prithvi-2 Ballistic Missiles from Balasore, Odisha. Prithvi-2 is a Surface-to-Surface Short-Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM).
Prithvi-2 Missile:
i.The Missile is developed by DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP) and is deployed by SFC (Strategic Forces Command).
ii.Range – 350 Kilometres and can carry upto 500-1, 000 Kilograms of Nuclear Warheads.
iii.It is a single stage Missile and is powered by Liquid Propulsion Single Engines
iv.The missile has been inducted into the armory of Indian Defence Forces in 2003, and was the first missile to have been developed by DRDO under IGMDP.
Night Trials:
India had conducted 2 Night Trials of the Prithvi-2 Missile in October, 2020 & September, 2020.
