The 37 new panchayats in Una district, which have been constituted during the delimitation process, will get new buildings soon. Satpal Singh Satti, Chairman of the State Finance Commission, today said funds would be allocated for every panchayat for construction works at the earliest.
He was speaking after inaugurating a panchayat bhawan in Lamlehra village of Una subdivision. The building has been constructed at the cost of Rs 9.15 lakh. He said schemes like the Rural Livelihood Mission, MGNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and waste management were being implemented directly by the Panchayati Raj institutions.
Satti said that development works estimated at Rs 64 lakh had been either completed or underway in Lamlehra during the Jai Ram Thakur-led government. He said the work to strengthen the Sasan-Badehar link road, which connects six panchayats, had been sanctioned and Rs 5 crore would be spent on it.
