Phanishwar Nath 'Renu' was born on 4 March 1921 in the village of Aurahi Hingna village near Forbisganj in Araria district of Bihar. At that time it was in Purnia district. Phanishwar Nath Renu's book Maila Aanchal was declared the second best novel after Godan written by Premchandra. The famous story written by him became the famous film in the lead role of Raj Kapoor and Waheeda Rehman with the same name on the Tisri Kasam. He was awarded the Padma Shri for his novel 'Maaila Aanchal'.
