Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde inaugurated ‘Nyay Kaushal’ – India’s first ever E-resource centre and virtual court for the Maharashtra Transport and Traffic Department at Judicial Officers Training Institute in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

i.Nyay Kaushal will facilitate electronic-filing of cases in Supreme Court, High Court and district courts across the country.

ii.The virtual court will deal with all traffic challan cases from every corner of Maharashtra online.

Participants:

i.Supreme Court Justice BR Gavai, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, Dipankar Datta, Former Judge of the Bombay High Court and vice-chairman of the E-courts committee, Justice RC Chavan and Bombay High Court judges, Justices AA Sayed, SS Shinde, PB Varale and ZA Haq. were present in the inaugural ceremony.

ii.Justice Chandrachud, who is the Chairman of Supreme Court’s E-court Committee attended the event virtually.

Key Points:

‘Nyay Kaushal’

i.The e-resource centre and virtual court will enable speedy justice for litigants.

ii.The e-resource Center is expected to reduce inequalities and enable access to the Supreme Court, High Courts and Taluka Courts.

iii.Nyay Kaushal will provide the easiest way of filing court matters by using technology, it will save time, travelling long distances and save costs.

‘Virtual Court’:

i.Utilizing the Virtual Court, litigants can pay fine and dispose of traffic challan cases with the click of a button on a smartphone or a computer.

ii.The virtual court will work from Katol in Nagpur district.

iii.Judges across the country will have to attend the programme online.
