Punjab government has abolished the Punjab Governance Reforms Commission (PGRC) constituted by the previous SAD-BJP regime and instead established a ‘Governance Ethics and Reforms Commission’ for comprehensive systematic reforms in the State.It has a wider role and a 5 year tenure.

It has a wider role and a 5 year tenure.The Commission would also scrutinize all transactions of above Rs.50 crore.This commission will be headed by K.R. Lakhanpal ,1972 batch retired IAS officer and former Punjab Chief secretary. The commission will have three ex officio members, including chief secretary, administrative secretary of governance reforms and Finance Secretary. A cabinet sub-committee of governance reforms headed by the Chief Minister will take the final call on recommendations of the new Commission.
