• Ali Aye Ligang, the festival celebrating the commencement of the agrarian season of the Mising community began here with traditional ceremony in Ghunasuti the legendary ground of Jonki-Panoi, the epic love story of Rajanikanta Bordoloi’s Miri Jiyari (The Mising Maiden).
• The two-day cultural extravaganza, organised centrally by Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam in association with Lakhimpur district administration and the Brihattar Ghunasuti Ali Aye Ligang Celebration Committee. 
• Competitions of various cultural performances like ‘Oyinitom’, ‘Gumrag’, ‘Lotta So man’ were also held today on that occasion.

Ali Aye Ligang:

• Ali-Aye-Ligang is a spring festival associated with agriculture, specially with the beginning of the Ahu paddy cultivation.^[1] It is celebrated by the Mising or Mishing an indigenous tribe of Assam. The festival marks onset of sowing seeds. The name of the festival is made up of three terms, 'Ali', legumes, 'Aye', seed and 'Ligang', to sow.
• The festival begins on 'Ligange lange', the first Wednesday of 'Gimur Polo', which occurs in February in the Gregorian calender or on Wednesday of the month of Fagun of the Assamese cdalender and in the month of February in English calendar which lasts for five days.
• In this festival a popular dance is performed by the young Mising people which is known as Gumrag. The formal dance of the festival starts from the easternmost house of the village and in the end it extending towards the field and the river. This dance is performed by encircling the courtyard of the house of the villagers.
