Explanation:

Kharif production mainly depends upon the behaviour of south west monsoon, as about 80 percent of the total cultivated area is rainfed. The sowing of Kharif crops starts from the end of April and goes up to the mid of June. Maize and Paddy are the the principal foodgrain crops growing during Kharif season and other minor crops are Ragi, Millets and pulses.
