In per capita SDP, Haryana tops among bigger states :
1. The Economic Survey 2019-20 released reveals that Haryana is on the top in the country among bigger states in the matter of per capita net State Domestic Product (SDP) at current prices (2011-12 series) as on August 1, 2019. Taking credit for the environment provided to industry by his government, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar claimed Haryana has become the best destination for industry today.
2. Haryana has taken steps towards improving ease of doing business, laid emphasis on improving law and order in the state and brought policies friendly to industry in the past over five years. With per capita net SDP of Rs 2,26,644, Haryana stands much ahead of neighbouring states Punjab (Rs 1,54,598), Himachal Pradesh (Rs 1,79,188) and Uttarakhand (Rs 1,98,738).
3. Among the other bigger states which have per capita net State Domestic Product (SDP) close to Haryana are Karnataka (Rs 2,10,887), Telangana (Rs 2,05,696), Tamil Nadu (Rs 1,93,750) and Andhra Pradesh (Rs 1,64,025).
4. The net State Domestic Product of Haryana at current prices (2011-12 series) as on August 1, 2019, as per the Economic Survey is Rs 6,39,273 crore in 2018-19. In 2017-18, the net SDP was Rs 5,65,509 crore.
5. States like West Bengal (Rs 1,09,491), Chhattisgarh (Rs 96,887), Uttar Pradesh (Rs 61,351) and Bihar (Rs 43,822) have very poor performance as compared to Haryana in per capita SDP. With per capita net State Domestic Product (SDP) of Rs 4,67,998, Goa, a smaller state, has topped in the country while Delhi, another smaller state, has SDP of Rs 3,65,529.
6. Not only per capita SDP, Haryana — at 11.5 per cent — is also among the better performing states with regard to growth of per capita net SDP, as per the Economic Survey 2019-20. West Bengal (16.8 per cent), Andhra Pradesh (14 per cent), Telangana (13.8 per cent), Bihar (13.4 per cent), Tamil Nadu (12.9 per cent) and Sikkim (12.8 per cent) have performed better than Haryana in growth though.
7. But neighbouring states like Punjab (8.4 per cent), Himachal Pradesh (7.3 per cent) and even smaller states like Delhi (11.1 per cent) and Goa (10.9 per cent) are behind Haryana in the matter of growth per capita net SDP.
