Programs organized for the welfare of PwDs ( Person with Disabilities) or Divyang in Uttarakhand :
1. Grant scheme for physically handicapped persons to purchase artificial limbs and hearing aids:
2. Scholarship Scheme for Disabled Students :
Disabled students are unable to receive education / training due to economic disparities and their living is not able to become self-reliant. Therefore, by giving scholarships under this scheme to interested students, self-reliance is made through education. So that they can lead a respectable life in the society by getting education and vocational training.
3. Differently abled nutrition grant :
Visually impaired, deaf and physically challenged destitute persons, who have no means of living for themselves, nor can they do any kind of hard work that can sustain them, with the aim of For destitute PwDs, living destitute Disabled Maintenance Grants under the government's welfare scheme for living under social security Sector plans that have been implemented are also known generally divyanga pension.
Maintenance grant is given to destitute disabled persons of various categories : -
Under Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme , 80% of persons with disabilities of 18 years to 65 years of age below poverty line or multi-disabled persons will be given a total of Rs 700.00 including Rs 400.00 by the State Government and Rs 300.00 by the Government of India .
4. State level award to skilled persons with disabilities and their service providers :
Scheme is being run with a view to provide more employment opportunities to the disabled employees. The Government provides a cash prize of Rs. 5000 / - as a state level award to differently abled employees and their servicemen.
5. Organizing Camps / Seminars for differently abled people :
Arrangements are made to organize camps and seminars for PwDs for their convenience in their nearest areas for annual verification and pension.
6. Disabled Youth / Young Marriage Incentive Grant :
Under the incentive grant scheme for ordinary youth, the women marry a disabled young man / woman, under the incentive grant scheme, the couple gets an incentive of Rs 11,000 / - and Rs 14,000 / - respectively for marrying a disabled young man or woman. The grant is given to : • The couple is a citizen of India. • The couple is a permanent resident of Uttarakhand or has been a resident for at least five years. • No member of the couple is punished in any criminal case. • At the time of marriage, the young man should not be more than 21 years and not more than 45 years old and the young woman should not be more than 18 years and 45 years old. • The couple should have been married to the prevailing social custom or a legal marriage by the competent court. • No member of the couple is in the category of income tax payer. • who does not have any surviving wife from the former and is not facing harassment or other criminal prosecution. • Grant amount of Rs. 14000 / - for a normal young man to marry a handicapped girl; Rs. 11000 / - for a normal woman to marry a handicapped person and Rs. 14000 / - for grant of marriage by both a handicapped and a young woman.
7. Dependent workshops for differently abled people :
State training centers and dependent workshops for physically challenged persons are operated in Tehri Garhwal, Pithoragarh and Nainital. In these workshops, handicapped / candle, soap, handloom, sweater, shawl etc. are imparted training to the disabled persons.
