In a shocking development, an inmate of a Muzaffarpur-based remand home turned out to be the mastermind of Sheohar Bazaar UCO Bank dacoity case. He had come out of the remand home on leave and went back there after looting Rs 32.33 lakh from the bank on October 28.

"The mastermind is in the remand home for the last several years and had come out on leave on October 22. After allegedly looting the bank with his associates on October 28, he went back to the remand home. Police, however, believe he is not a minor. He would be taken on remand for interrogation and police will verify the documents submitted before the court to prove him a minor," the SP said, adding that police did try to quiz him inside the remand home but he did not cooperate.
Police sources said even the loot of Rs8.05 lakh from ICICI Bank branch at Gobarsahi in Muzaffarpur was also committed by the remand home mastermind and his associates. "There is striking similarities in the activities of the criminals as recorded in the CCTV cameras installed in both the banks. In addition, the "minor" had come out of remand home on October 3 and had gone back soon .
