Bhopal Smart City and Madhya Pradesh bag three Awards at 7th Smart Cities Awards :

1. A total of 25 awards were presented to the winners in 21 different categories at the awards summit in Port Blair.

2. Bhopal smart city bagged 2 awards in different categories, along with Madhya Pradesh as the ‘Smart State of The Year’, apart from the 22 awards that were presented to the winners in 21 different categories at the 7th edition of BW Businessworld Smart Cities conclave and awards 2019.   

3. The winners were awarded in 21 different categories for 7th smart cities award.

4. The Smart Cities Conclave & Awards platform endeavours to engage smart cities thought leaders and innovators to bring forth smart and sustainable ideas that can link our progressive cities to solutions that are best suited for them. The event featured immersive experiences and conversations that will help new solutions and ideas come up for better sustainable smart cities. 

Smart City Mission :

Smart Cities Mission, sometimes referred to as Smart City Mission, is an urban renewal and retrofitting program by the Government of India with the mission to develop 100 smart cities across the country making them citizen friendly and sustainable.The Union Ministry of Urban Development is responsible for implementing the mission in collaboration with the state governments of the respective cities. On 7 September 2019, the 10,000-acre Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in Aurangabad, Maharashtra was inaugurated as the first greenfield industrial smart city of India.

Smart Cities Mission envisions developing an area within 100 cities in the country as model areas based on an area development plan, which is expected to have a rub-off effect on other parts of the city, and nearby cities and towns. Cities will be selected based on the Smart Cities challenge, where cities will compete in a countrywide competition to obtain the benefits from this mission. As of January 2018, 99 cities have been selected to be upgraded as part of the Smart Cities Mission after they defeated other cities in the challenge.
