Rajasthan local body elections :
1. Congress has won nine of the 17 Nagar Parishads and 11 of the 29 Nagar Palikas, while BJP has won one Nagar Nigam, one Nagar Parishad and four Nagar Palikas. Remaining seats were won by independents and other parties.
2. In total, the Congress won in 20 out of 49 local bodies and the BJP in six. Congress secured a majority in eight local bodies and the BJP in 10.
3. Congress has performed significantly well in Baran, Barmer, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Churu, Hanumangarh, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Nagaur. BJP maintains its lead in Ajmer, Alwar, Bikaner, Jalore, Pali, Udaipur and Bharatpur.
4. Other Congress leaders have called the win a rejection of BJP’s “Ayodhya” politics. “The results are a lesson for the BJP. People have rejected them for Article 370 and Ayodhya temple,” said state minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas.Polling for the Rajasthan local body elections to elect 2,105 ward councillors in 49 local bodies.

As per the State Election Commission, of the total 2,105 wards in Rajasthan, Congress won 965, BJP swept 736, independents won 385, Bahujan Samaj Party won 16 and Communist Party of India (Marxist), three. The vote share for the Congress stood at 36.78%, while for the BJP, the figure is 33.14%. Independents secured 27.43% and NOTA votes comprised 1.54%.
6. Elections for the post of chairman and deputy chairman of urban local bodies will be held on November 26 and 27, respectively.
List of municipalities in Rajasthan :
Rajasthan has 7 Municipal Corporations, 11 Municipal Councils and 152 Municipal Boards or Nagar Pachayats. Thus Rajasthan has total 193 Municipalities or Urban Local Bodies(ULBs). As per census 2011, there were 13 Municipal Council but later 2(Udaipur and Bharatpur) of them upgraded to Municipal Corporation.
