Pachmarhi :
Pachmarhi, in Hoshangabad district is a famous hill station not only in Madhya Pradesh, but also it is popular in Central Indian States. Pachmarhi came into existence with the establishment of ‘Pachmarhi Cantonment’ from the rule of British Empire in India. It is widely known as Satpura ki Rani or the Queen of Satpura. Dhupgarh is the highest point in Madhya Pradesh. Satpura Mountain Range is also located here. Bee Falls, Chauragarh, Dhupgarh, Jatashankar and Pandava caves are the popular destinations in Pachmarhi.
Pachmarhi focuses on the nature’s glory in full swing. Satpura Mountain Range is plated with lush greenery and the rivers take twists and turns in the place. Pathways lead into serene forest tracts. One finds wild bamboos plantations and also jamun, thick Sal forests and fragile cane bushes. Not only that, Pachmarhi also delivers the pilgrimage tourism, nature tourism and leisure tourism in the state of Madhya Pradesh. History of Pachmarhi : There is an interesting story that is related to the origin of this beautiful hill station of Madhya Pradesh. Captain James Forsyth who belonged to the British Army discovered the area in the year 1857. Thus it became a hilly resort and also an infirmary for the British soldiers of the 'Central Provinces' of Indian continent. Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh became their 'summer capital'. The population of this place is 10000. Most of the people in Pachmarhi are connected with the Indian Army installations in the area. The lustrous greenery of this place and the eye catching waterfalls captured the attention of every tourist. The town area of Pachmarhi is under the administration of the Pachmarhi Cantonment Board, serving the Indian Army.
Amarkantak :
Amarkantak, located in Anuppur District is a pilgrimage town and the small hilly land in Madhya Pradesh. Amarkantak is located under the division of Anuppur District of Madhya Pradesh. This destination is considered as Teerthrajas or the King of Pilgrimages.This region is an exclusive natural heritage area. It is the meeting point of the Vindhyas and the Satpuras, along with the Maikal Hill. Narmada River, Son River and Johila River appear from the meeting points of these two mountain ranges.
Shivpuri :
Shivpuri, in Shivpuri District is popular for the lush green forests, waterfalls, hills and the lakes. Located in the Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, this hill station offers one to find peace in the midst of the dense jungles. Chattri, Madhav National Park, George Castle and Madhav Vilas Palace are the popular places in Shivpuri.
Kundeshwar :
Kundeshwar, in Tikamgarh District is a small hilly village situated in Tikamgarh District. This place is popular for the presence of an ancient temple dedicated to Mahadeva. The temple is located in the midst of the dense jungle. There is a waterfall named Usha waterfall, located in this region. There are three big fairs held at Kundeshwar yearly. A fair attended by 50,000 persons is held in Poush to Magha in January on the occasion of Sankranti. Further fairs are held on the occasion of Basanta Panchimi and on the Kartik Ekadasshi in the month of October to November.
As it is a hill station in Madhya Pradesh, to the south, there lies a picnic spot known as 'Barighar' and the 'Usha Water Fall'. The village possesses an archaeological museum and Vinobha Sansthan. Maharaja Birsingh Deo established the Keshva Sahitya Sansthan at Kundeshwar. Kundeshwar is known for Kundadev Mahadev, an ancient temple on the bank of the Jamdhar River, and is the location of Kundadev Mahadev Temple, which attracts a large number of tourists.
Tamiya :
Tamiya, located in Satpura National Park is situated in the core area of Satpura National Park. This hill station is covered with the dense jungles. The picturesque splendour of nature and rich flora of the adjacent regions of Tamiya offer the tourist to reside in the midst of silence.
