Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ambitious National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura. Prime Minister also launched nationwide workshops in Krishi Vigyan Kendras in all 687 districts of the country with artificial insemination of livestock as one of the goals. Significance: PM Modi emphasized that to expand the Dairy and farming sector in India, research and better technology are the need of the hour. Government has also launched Startup Brand Challenge so that these innovations and new technology could come from villages and will work towards farmers’ welfare and employment generation. The programme has two components - to control the diseases by 2025 and eradication by 2030. NADCP aims at vaccinating over 500 million livestock, including cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats and pigs against foot and mouth disease.
