'Voter Verification Program' launched in Uttarakhand :
1. The State’s chief electoral officer, launched the Electors Verification Programme (EVP).
2. The Election Commission of India is conducting electors’ verification programme from September 1 to October 15.
3. The aim of this campaign is to ensure 100 per cent verification of voters list and making them error free.
4. It appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to connect with the largest voters verification campaign. Voters can check their and their family’s details on the voter card and verify the same. This can make the voters list 100 per cent error free.
5. To check one’s details, a voter will have to use the voter card number of log in on www.nvsp.in. The voter should then verify the name, date of birth, sex, relation or relative’s name, address and photo. In case of error, one should mark the correct information for change in details or photograph.
6. Informing about documents necessary for making the changes, an Indian passport, driving license, Aadhaar card, bank passbook, PAN card or latest water/telephone/electricity/gas connection bill-anyone of these can be uploaded.
7. One should also state the mobile phone number and e-mail address to receive services in the future.
8. Further informed that on providing the mobile phone number, the voter will also be able to receive regular SMS-based alerts. A family living in one place will be placed in one polling centre.
9. For further information, one can make a call to the voter helpline at 1950 or also use the voter helpline mobile application.
10. Voter facility centres have also been set up. Those attaining the age of 18 years by January 1, 2020 can register their names here. After the voters verification campaign, the voters list will be published . Any complaints regarding this can be lodged till December 15. After addressing these complaints, the new voters list will be published on January 1, 2020.
11. In addition, voters can also contact the election commission via helpline number 1950.

Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation( SVEEP) :
‘Greater Participation for a Stronger Democracy’. Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since 2009, we have been working towards preparing India’s electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.
SVEEP’s primary goal is to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during the elections. The programme is based on multiple general as well as targeted interventions which are designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.
Activities by state for voter awareness :
1. As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, in order to make the masses aware about elections and voting, some voter awareness campaigns have been proposed in the state. The programmes under which street play, slogan, besides voting oath etc will be held. Cultural team hold oath and human chain programmes organized.
2. People will be made aware about the voting by holding mehndi and oath programme. Apart from this Street play, painting and oath programmes, sand art, human chains organised.
3. At all the places, quiz regarding elections and information about EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) and VVPAT( Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) will be provided. Attractive prizes will also be given to the winners of various competitions.
