India’s highest sky cycling track at Gulaba, Kullu District :
1. India’s highest sky cycling track has come up at the Nature Park in Gulaba, Kullu district. To promote eco-tourism in the district, the Forest Department is focusing on constructing such parks at key locations, where tourists can sit and relax while enjoying the nature’s beauty.
2. Sky Cycling Track has made by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Sports Institute under the supervision of Colonel Neeraj Rana
3. With the sky cycling track in place, tourists will be able to enjoy this adventurous sport from October. It is a 350-m track with a 450-m zip line. Eight local youths have been trained by the institute to guide tourists interested in sky cycling.
4. The project’s cost was Rs 13 lakh.
5.Gulaba is a scenic place and the track will be an added attraction for tourists. More local youths will be trained. This will generate employment. The park area is under construction and will be completed soon. Kullu-Manali is a favourite tourist destination. Soon, a committee will be constituted to fix charges for sky cycling and zip lining. It is hoped to start it by October.
Gulaba :
Gulaba is a village in the State of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is 27 km away from Manali and 25 km from Rohtang pass. The village is designed and manned as per the guidelines of National Green Tribunal Act. Gulaba has all the relevant equipment and computerized system to ensure good tourism management. Gulaba has mobile toilets units and an effective waste disposal system. As per the order of National Green Tribunal Act, permits are given to up to only 800 petrol vehicles and 400 diesel vehicles to visit Rohtang Pass.
The road leading to Rohtang Pass is barred during heavy snowfall season which lasts from November to March. To avoid accidents, Himachal Pradesh Police has setup barriers to guide traffic. This place is considered to be a starting point to Brighu lake trekking. The area is filled with picturesque scenery and flora.
Gulaba is located at an altitude of 4000 m. It is named after Raja Gulab Singh of Kashmir who camped here while he was invading China through this area. Covered with snow from November to February, it is the next best alternative for skiing when Rohtang Pass is closed because of snowfall in winter. The view of the majestic snow capped mountains, the swirling Beas River and the small grasslands simply add charm to the area. Gulaba has been famous for skiing and other adventure sports. Besides skiing, one can also get involved in exploring the beauty of the region through Paragliding. Gulaba has numerous high peaks from where one can have a full view of the scenic location. During the end of February or early March, the Manali-Rohtang road opens till Gulaba.

• The sky cycling track has built at an altitude of 9,000 feet. • About 450 meter long jeep line including 350 meter sky cycling has been successfully tested. • Apart from this, the state government is constructing a nature garden in the courts of Gulaba, which is estimated to cost about two crore rupees. • This are will comprise - Ticket booking room, walking trek, kids play area, rope cross, picnic area, tree house with a tower, yoga and meditation centres, natural waterfall, restaurant and shopping complex, toilets, adventure activities such as ATV trek, snow games, jeep line and abseiling.
Sky Cycling :
Ride a bicycle on a rope suspended in the air at height of 30ft from the ground level and covers a total rope track distance of around 328ft. Adventure seekers will love to enjoy this extremely new activity as they can also experience the bird’s eye view of the scenery around.
